Wedding season 2025 was one for the books. From intimate elopements in the mountains to grand celebrations in historic venues, every couple brought their own unique story to tell. Here's a look behind the curtain.
The Season at a Glance
This year I had the privilege of photographing 28 weddings across 6 different states. Each one presented its own challenges and rewards, but they all shared one thing in common: genuine, unscripted emotion.
The trend toward smaller, more intentional celebrations continued to grow. Many couples chose to invest in the experience rather than the guest count, which as a photographer, I absolutely love. Smaller weddings allow for more intimate coverage and deeper storytelling.
Memorable Moments
Every wedding has that one moment that takes your breath away. For Sarah and James, it was the moment he saw her coming down the aisle and couldn't hold back tears. For Elena and Marco, it was their first dance in the rain, laughing and completely soaked, without a care in the world.
These are the moments you can't plan or pose. They happen in a split second, and having the instinct and preparation to capture them is what separates documentary wedding photography from simple event coverage.
"A wedding is not just a day — it's the beginning of a story. My job is to write the first chapter."
— John Doe
Lessons Learned
Every season teaches you something new. This year's biggest takeaways:
- Always scout the venue — Even if you've shot there before, lighting conditions change with the seasons.
- Second shooters are invaluable — Having a second perspective means never missing a reaction shot.
- Deliver fast — Couples are anxious to relive their day. I now aim to deliver galleries within 3 weeks.
- Connection over perfection — The technically "imperfect" shots with genuine emotion always end up being the couple's favorites.
Looking Ahead to 2026
Next season is already shaping up beautifully, with bookings spanning from coastal Maine to the deserts of Arizona. I can't wait to meet each couple and help tell their story. If you're planning a wedding and want authentic, emotional photography, let's connect.
